Be ThankfulTo bring a reminder to us all that every day ought to be Thanksgiving.
Be thankful that you don't already have everything youDesire. If you did, what would there be to look forward to?Be thankful when you don't know something,For it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.During those times you grow.Be thankful for your limitations,Because they give you opportunities for improvement.Be thankful for each new challenge,Because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable lessons.Be thankful when you're tired and weary,Because it means you've made a difference.
It's easy to be thankful for the good things.A life of rich fulfillment comes to those whoAre also thankful for the setbacks.Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,And they can become your blessings.~~unknown
It's unrealistic to expect to have success inMeaningful things you do and not have failureAlong the way. It's the way of life.
Instead of fighting it or feeling ashamed orGuilty, accept this with grace. Look for theLessons to be learned-lessons showing you how to do itRight the next time.
Any failures that you experience can beTransformed into something of worth. It allDepends on how you look at it.
If you remain focused and determined, theseLessons become stepping-stones to the successThat you seek.

A PERSPECTIVE ABOUT OLD BARNSOnly years of standing in the weather, bearing the storms and scorching sun only that can produce beautiful barn wood.
A stranger came by the other day with an offer that set me to thinking. He wanted to buy the old barn that sits out by the highway.I told him right off he was crazy. He was a city type, you could tell by his clothes, his car,His hands, and the way he talked. He said he was driving by and saw that beautiful barnSitting out in the tall grass and wanted to know if it was for sale.I told him he had a funny idea of beauty.
Sure, it was a handsome building in its day.But then, there's been a lot of winters pass with their snow and ice andhowling wind. The summer sun's beat down on that old barn till all the paint's gone, andthe wood has turned silver gray. Now the old building leans a good deal, looking kind of tired.Yet, that fellow called it beautiful.
That set me to thinking.I walked out to the field and just stood there, gazing at that old barn. The stranger said he planned to use the lumber to line the walls of his denin a new country home he's building down the road.He said you couldn't get paint that beautiful.Only years of standing in the weather, bearing the storms and scorching sun only that can produce beautiful barn wood.
It came to me then. We're a lot like that, you and I.Only it's on the inside that the beauty grows with us.Sure we turn silver gray too... And lean a bit more thanWe did when we were young and full of sap.But the Good Lord knows what He's doing. And as the years pass He's busy using the hard weather of our lives,The dry spells and the stormy seasons to do a job of beautifyingOur souls that nothing else can produce. And to think how often folks holler because they want life easy!
They took the old barn down today and hauled it awayTo beautify a rich man's house. And I reckon someday you and I'll be hauled offTo Heaven to take on whatever chores the Good LordHas for us on the Great Sky Ranch.
And I suspect we'll be more beautifulThen for the seasons we've been through here...And just maybe even add a bit of beauty to our Father's house.
May there be peace within you today.May you trust God that you areExactly where you are meant to be.
And...I do sincerely thank God for my wonderful friends and familyWho love me even though I show signs of weathering.~~unknown

Hunger for meaning
+++++++++++++++++++
Are you so busy chasing pleasure that you leave no room for
joy in your life? Are you so obsessed with proving how happy
you are that you make yourself miserable?
Step back for a moment and remember who you are. Even if you
reach them, the generic goals and aspirations you borrow
from others will not bring you even a moment of real
fulfillment.
Life does not gain meaning through the things you see
advertised on television. If all you want is what the world
tells you to want, you'll find yourself in a perpetual state
of lack, limitation and frustration.
Within you is a hunger for meaning. Within you is a burning
desire to make a difference and to express a purpose that is
special to you alone.
No one can give that purpose to you, for it is something you
already have. Let go of the need to nourish your shallow
ego, and you'll begin to connect with the real, meaningful
purpose that is woven through your whole life.
Free yourself from the off-the-shelf definition of success
that is nothing more than an empty fantasy. Instead, find
real success and joy by giving life to the purpose that has
always been within you.

Beauty and goodness

Think of the most beautiful thing you've ever witnessed, and
multiply it by a thousand. What you then have is only a
small, barely detectable fraction of the magnificent
creation that is life.
What if you could experience the full beauty and goodness of
life in one instant? You would surely and uncontrollably
weep with tears of pure joy at the realization.
And there is something you would know, without the slightest
doubt. That no problem, no challenge, no difficulty, no pain
can ever really diminish the wonder and grandeur that is
life.
There is a truth you would understand, in a way surpassing
all thoughts and words, and it is this. Although the
difficulties are very real, they are also very small when
compared to the positive possibilities.
It pays to continually put things in perspective. For the
more ground your perspective encompasses, the more valuable
opportunities you'll have to live with genuine richness.
Choose as your perspective the wondrous and ever-expanding
beauty of life. Within that golden territory, you'll find
all the goodness and value you could ever desire.

The victories bring joy, and new opportunities. The defeats
bring wisdom, strength, determination, and new
opportunities.
In this way, life moves continually forward. In each moment,
you can build upon whatever has come before.
Sometimes things happen just as you expected they would, and
then there are times when nothing goes the way you had it
planned. In any event, there is a way to respond
triumphantly.
Learn to see the value no matter what outer conditions and
circumstances may be concealing it. Know that there is
value, and you will find it.
Right now, you are where you are supposed to be. For right
now, you are where you can truly make a difference.
The ups and downs and ins and outs of life have brought you
to this day. And on this day, you can make something
beautiful out of it all.

ONE OF THE BEST STORIES I'VE EVER HEARD!
ONE OF THE BEST STORIES I'VE EVER HEARD!
As she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of school, she told the children an untruth. Like most teachers, she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same. However, that was impossible, because there in the front row, slumped in his seat, was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard
Mrs. Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed that he did not play well with the other children, that his clothes were messy and that he constantly needed a bath. In addition, Teddy could be unpleasant. It got to the point where Mrs. Thompson would actually take delight in marking his papers with a broad red pen, making bold X's and then putting a big "F" at the top of his papers.
At the school where Mrs. Thompson taught, she was required to review each child's past records and she put Teddy's off until last. However, when she reviewed his file, she was in for a surprise.
Teddy's first grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is a bright child with a ready laugh. He does his work neatly and has good manners... he is a joy to be around.."
His second grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is an excellent student, well liked by his classmates, but he is troubled because his mother has a terminal illness and life at home must be a struggle."
His third grade teacher wrote, "His mother's death has been hard on him. He tries to do his best, but his father doesn't show much interest, and his home life will soon affect him if some steps aren't taken."
Teddy's fourth grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is withdrawn and doesn't show much interest in school. He doesn't have many friends and he sometimes sleeps in class."
By now, Mrs. Thompson realized the problem and she was ashamed of herself. She felt even worse when her students brought her Christmas presents, wrapped in beautiful ribbons and bright paper, except for Teddy's. His present was clumsily wrapped in the heavy, brown paper that he got from a grocery bag. Mrs. Thompson took pains to open it in the middle of the other presents. Some of the children started to laugh when she found a rhinestone bracelet with some of the stones missing, and a bottle that was one-quarter full of perfume. But she stifled the children's laughter when she exclaimed how pretty the bracelet was, putting it on, and dabbing some of the perfume on her wrist. Teddy Stoddard stayed after school that day just long enough to say, "Mrs. Thompson, today you smelled just like my Mom used to."
After the children left, she cried for at least an hour. On that very day, she quit teaching reading, writing and arithmetic. Instead, she began to teach children. Mrs. Thompson paid particular attention to Teddy. As she worked with him, his mind seemed to come alive. The more she encouraged him, the faster he responded. By the end of the year, Teddy had become one of the smartest children in the class and, despite her lie that she would love all the children the same, Teddy became one of her "teacher's pets.."
A year later, she found a note under her door, from Teddy, telling her that she was the best teacher he ever had in his whole life.
Six years went by before she got another note from Teddy. He then wrote that he had finished high school, third in his class, and she was still the best teacher he ever had in life.
Four years after that, she got another letter, saying that while things had been tough at times, he'd stayed in school, had stuck with it, and would soon graduate from college with the highest of honours. He assured Mrs. Thompson that she was still the best and favourite teacher he had ever had in his whole life.
Then four more years passed and yet another letter came. This time he explained that after he got his bachelor's degree, he decided to go a little further. The letter explained that she was still the best and favourite teacher he ever had. But now his name was a little longer.... The letter was signed, Theodore F. Stoddard, MD.
The story does not end there. You see, there was yet another letter that spring. Teddy said he had met this girl and was going to be married. He explained that his father had died a couple of years ago and he was wondering if Mrs. Thompson might agree to sit at the wedding in the place that was usually reserved for the mother of the groom. Of course, Mrs. Thompson did. And guess what? She wore that bracelet, the one with several rhinestones missing. Moreover, she made sure she was wearing the perfume that Teddy remembered his mother wearing on their last Christmas together.
They hugged each other, and Dr. Stoddard whispered in Mrs. Thompson's ear, "Thank you Mrs. Thompson for believing in me. Thank you so much for making me feel important and showing me that I could make a difference."
Mrs. Thompson, with tears in her eyes, whispered back. She said, "Teddy, you have it all wrong. You were the one who taught me that I could make a difference. I didn't know how to teach until I met you."
(For you that don't know, Teddy Stoddard is the Dr. at Iowa Methodist in Des Moines that has the Stoddard Cancer Wing.)
Warm someone's heart today. . . pass this along. I love this story so very much, I cry every time I read it. Just try to make a difference in someone's life today? tomorrow? just "do it".
Random acts of kindness, I think they call it!

The little things

It only takes a minute or two for you to make a little
progress. And a little progress can put you solidly on the
road to a lot more.
It only takes a small effort to give a little kindness. And
a little kindness can easily multiply itself again and again
until it starts to make a big difference.
It only takes a simple adjustment of your attitude to build
a little enthusiasm. And with a little enthusiasm you can
attract the support of many others.
Small positive changes are easy to make. In between all the
things you're already doing, there are numerous
opportunities to fill in the spaces with extra treasures.
And the small positive changes do something much more
powerful than making a difference in the world. They make a
difference in you.
Get in the habit of making small positive changes, and soon
you'll be experiencing big, valuable accomplishments. Let
the little things put your spirit in a positive place, and
that can change your life in magnificent, profound ways.

Decide and do
+++++++++++++++++++
The route to success in any area of life can be summed up in
a simple, easy-to-remember formula. Decide what you wish to
do, and then do it.
That may seem entirely obvious, and indeed it is. Yet even
though the path to success is so clear and simple, many
people have great difficulty following it.
The decision of what to do can be greatly hindered by
doubts, fears, insecurities and worries, as well as by
confusion over priorities. To get past all that, remember
that every doubt is a creation of your own mind, and deep
within you is an authentic purpose that can transcend any
challenge.
When it comes to taking action, there can be all sorts of
justifications and excuses for not doing so. To move forward
anyway, it's important to keep in mind that every moment is
an opportunity to create value for your life and your world.
When you choose to do nothing with this moment, the
opportunity it contains is gone forever, never to return.
Choose instead to invest yourself in effective action, and
the potential value of this moment is transformed into real,
actual, lasting value in your life.
Decide how you can best express the values and dreams that
mean so much to you. Then take step after step to
successfully bring your decisions to life.

doubts, fears, insecurities and worries, as well as by
confusion over priorities.

Life is good. The possibilities for joy and true fulfillment
are more abundant than ever before.
It is great to be alive, on this day, in this place, with
things just as they are. And you are truly blessed to be
you, with your own unique and valuable gifts to offer each
new moment.
Making the most of this beautiful moment is really quite
simple. Just allow the authentic, driving purpose that lives
within you to be expressed in your thoughts, words and
actions.
Sure, there are difficult problems and formidable challenges
in this world. And yet even the challenges and difficulties
eventually bring positive value to life.
For in working through those challenges, you learn, you
grow, you create and you discover new, delightful
possibilities. When life compels you to give your best, you
end up getting better, stronger, and more capable of living
with richness and joy.
Life is beautiful right now, as it is. And what's better, is
that you can make it even more so.

It takes strength
+++++++++++++++++++
It takes strength to do what must be done when the work is
unpleasant and uncomfortable. It takes strength to persist
in the face of obstacles, when it would be much easier to
simply give up.
It takes strength to be polite to someone when that person
has been rude to you. It takes strength to be truthful when
a lie would be more convenient.
It takes strength to build for the future. It takes strength
to resist temptations and distractions.
It takes strength to do what is right. It takes strength to
make an effort when it would be easier to make up an excuse.
It takes strength to do all these things. And all the while,
these are the very things that build even more strength.
Be truthful, do what you know is right, put forth effort
when it is called for, persist, and the more you do so, the
more easily you'll be able to do so. Exercise your strength,
and you'll surely grow stronger, more capable, and
successful in each endeavor.

You probably will not have an opportunity to save the whole
world today. But you can surely brighten your own corner of

Most likely you will not get everything done that you had
wanted to do. Yet you can definitely make some real and
lasting progress.
The people with whom you come in contact may not all
appreciate or understand you. Still, you can have a positive
effect on some of those lives.
The events of this day are not all going to proceed
according to your plans. Even so, you can create value from
whatever comes your way.
Chances are that conditions will not be perfect and
circumstances will not be ideal. Fortunately, there is much
you can do with whatever you have.
Welcome to this gloriously flawed and wonderfully imperfect

Rise above the need
+++++++++++++++++++
Instead of focusing so intently on what you can get, consider
what you can let go. Lighten your load and become more
nimble, peaceful and powerful.
Some of the things you so desperately think you need, you do
not need at all. As your needs diminish, your freedom and
richness grow.
There's nothing you must have in order to be. Devote some of
your life to simply being, and know the liberation that
comes from letting go of yourself.
Ambition, intention and disciplined effort will bring you
much in this world. Always remember, though, that there is
more to life than the success the world confers.
When you act out of need you will struggle from a position
of weakness. Rise above the need, and you are free to
achieve without limitation.
Remember that fulfillment is not about getting all that you
need. Fulfillment is knowing the freedom to be all that you
are.

Gratitude is the key to abundance. When you're truly thankful
for the good things you have, those good things grow more
numerous and valuable.
So how do you put gratitude into action? By making the most
of the good things you have.
If you hoard and hide your blessings away, they begin to
wither and eventually disappear completely. When, on the
other hand, you put the good and valuable things in your
life to full use, they multiply many times over.
There is no better way to show your thankfulness and
appreciation for something than by using it for a positive,
productive, creative purpose. Do that, and the value you
already have grows even more valuable.
Whatever you have is not really yours unless you are truly
thankful for it. To be truly and effectively thankful for
it, make full and fruitful use of it.
Live with a thankfulness in your heart, in your thoughts
and, most importantly, in your every action. All the good

Talent and ability have an influence on your level of
accomplishment, yet there is another factor that plays a
much greater role. That factor is willingness.
You can come up with all sorts of excuses and reasonable
explanations for why you are where you are. The truth is,
you are precisely where you have been willing, up to this
point, to bring yourself.
You can know just what to do, and have every ability and
resource with which to do it. And yet you also must be
willing, or it will never happen.
Willingness comes from knowing why, on a deep and undeniable
level. Willingness comes from making a solid, consistent and
persistent connection to your most meaningful purposes.
Willingness comes from understanding that every action has
consequences, as does every failure to act. Your most
authentic and abiding desires are faithfully expressed by

God Will Never Turn His Back On You
Hebrews 13:5–6He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
For six whole hours, the Son of God was suspended between heaven and earth. And at the height of His suffering on the cross, He cried out in the deepdarkness, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” (Matthew 27:45–46)
For the first time, Jesus addressed His Father as “God”. The Father hadforsaken the Son. As Judge of the universe, God had to turn His back on HisSon, who was carrying all the filth of the world’s sins, for His eyes aretoo pure to behold evil. (Habakkuk 1:13)
If the Father had not turned His back on His Son, He would have to turn Hisback on you today when you call out to Him in your hour of need. But becauseJesus took your place, today, you take His place, and have God’s facesmiling on you always!
Right now, God’s face is smiling on you. His countenance is shining on you.I can stand before you and declare, “The Lord make His face shine upon you.”(Numbers 6:25–26) And it is all because Jesus has paid the price for God tonever leave you nor forsake you.(Hebrews 13:5)
As Judge, God turned His back on His Son. But as Father, He cried. His heartwas broken because Christ was never more pleasing to Him than when He was onthe cross. Christ’s suffering was a sweet-smelling aroma to the Father.(Ephesians 5:2)
Do you remember what Jesus said? “Therefore My Father loves Me, because Ilay down My life that I may take it again.” (John 10:17) If you are a parent you love each one of your children equally. But when one of them doessomething special for you out of love, it touches your heart, and you justwant to run to him and hug him.
That was what happened at the cross, except that the Father could notembrace His Son. Instead, He had to turn His back on His Son because oursins had to be punished in His Son’s body.
Beloved, when you cry out to the Father for help, know that He hears you andwill surely help you. Because of Jesus, He will never turn His back on you!

Open Your Heart
Whenever we open our heart to another, we will find that joy surges throughour soul. Even when our lives are overflowing with activity, even when weare so lonely or bored that all we can do is feel the ache of emptiness, even when we are in the midst of despair as deep as a bottomless canyon, even when we feel as aimless and meaningless as a mosquito.Whenever---wherever---we open our heart to another, we will find that joysurges through our soul.
When we open our heart to someone, we allow God's Spirit within us towelcome God's Spirit in another. We are taken beyond the walls of our ownlives and placed in a space of holy love---a space too mystical for words todescribe. It is like the still space between the night and dawn, the stillspace as the budding flower opens its petals, the still space between sleepand wakefulness. In that space, there is a holy encounter, and in thatencounter nothing exists but that moment and that person and that space. Andyes, joy surges through our soul, as if it were a kite leaping into the sky.
O God, let me know that in the mystical moment when My heart greets the heart of another, I will see your face.

Don't lower your expectations to get them into agreement with your reality.
Instead, lift up your reality so that it meets the very best of your
expectations.
It can be tempting to accept less from yourself than you're capable of
achieving. But that does not do anyone any good. Your highest expectations
are yours for a reason. They're yours because you know that, even though
they present a challenge, you're capable of achieving them.
Your expectations send a strong message not only to yourself, but also to
those around you. Let that message be a positive, confident and enthusiastic
one.
When things don't turn out as expected, that's no reason to change your
expectations. Rather than changing your expectations, the thing to do is to
change your approach. There is a way to achieve precisely what you expect.
Expect the best, stick with it, and you'll get there.

A burden you don't deserve
+++++++++++++++++++
It's easy to blame someone else for your troubles. Yet when
You're truly honest with yourself, it's clear that blaming
Someone else will not add the slightest bit of value to your
Life.
It seems fair and reasonable to expect your problems to be
Solved by the people who caused them, but stop and think
About it. Do you really wish to give those people who caused
Your problems any additional control over your life and your
Future?
To move your life in the direction you choose to go, you
Must be willing to take full responsibility for it. That
Means moving past what's easy and accepting that things are
Not always going to be fair.
Perhaps life has given you a burden you don't deserve.
Instead of seeing that as an excuse to give up, see it as an
Opportunity to give more.
Though you may not have brought the troubles upon yourself,
You can nevertheless make positive use of them. Choose to
Take full responsibility for your own situation, and you'll
Begin to see how you can rise from it to a level that's
Higher than ever before.
Real success does not result from everything going
Perfectly. Real success comes when you're willing to move

And as each is aseparate thing upon the earth, as a rose should have of one root, yet ofmany branches. But it is the growth of the same that should come intofulfillment into all things, as one, yet not alike.

Being Thankful
When some things go wrong, take a moment to be thankful for the many more
things that are still going right. To find a sure and dependable way through
your troubles, start by counting your blessings.
Focus on what you can do and you won't have to be held back by what you
cannot do. Value and appreciate what you do have, and you will no longer be
limited by what you don't have.
True abundance begins with gratitude. The more thankful you are for the good
things you have, the more they will grow to have even greater value.
With gratitude in your heart, your eyes can see more clearly. You'll
discover ways for moving forward that you otherwise would never have noticed
Before you blame, before you worry, before you resent or despair, take a
moment to be truly thankful. See the world from the perspective of gratitude
and see what a powerful positive difference it can make.

You have no cause to be ashamed of who you are or where you
come from. For there is so much you have to offer.
You were born to do things that have never been done, to
understand things that have never been understood. You are
here in this place to express the rich and unique beauty
that lives within you.
Don't let the silly little dramas of each day get you down.
For you are here to do great things.

A way forward
+++++++++++++++++++
Whatever happens, there is a way forward. Remember that as
you welcome each moment and each new development.
Out of any circumstance, you can find a positive pathway. In
any situation, there is the opportunity to create success
and to experience fulfillment.
Be unconditionally thankful for the moment you're in.
Because the moment you're in is filled with real
possibilities.
Your gratitude will enable you to see the best of those
possibilities. Your expectation of finding the best way
forward will enable you to begin moving solidly forward.
There is much to be gained by planning and preparing, by
anticipating what is most likely to happen and being ready
for it. Yet there is no reason to be paralyzed by worry or
fear, because you have what it takes to handle even the most
unexpected setbacks.
Know that always, whatever may come, there is a realistic
way forward. Have the confidence to find that way, and take
yourself to magnificent new heights.

Faithful expression
+++++++++++++++++++
Fulfillment does not come from grabbing and holding something
outside of you. Fulfillment is brought about by being the
living expression of what you value most.
The possibilities in life have no limit. Those possibilities
you fulfill are the possibilities you choose to embrace and
embody.
Life is whatever you can sincerely imagine it to be. Those
possibilities that you conceive of, understand, and value
are the ones you bring to life.
If you continually hold conflicting possibilities in your
mind, then that same conflict will shape the events and
circumstances of your life. Focus instead on the good,
valuable, desirable possibilities that support and
complement each other.
The things you seek become yours when you allow your life to
express them. Think of what you can do right now, in this
moment, to bring to life your most treasured dreams and
values.
Every thought, every word, every action matters, and adds to
the substance of your life. When all that you do faithfully
expresses the person you are, life is filled with richness
and meaning.

In love with life
+++++++++++++++++++
Fall in love again each moment with life. Breathe in the
rich, new wondrous possibilities that are continually being
born.
Realize what a grand opportunity exists in even the smallest
of matters. Today is a day like no other, and you are
magnificently blessed to be a part of all that it
encompasses.
The wind blows, the sun shines, night falls, and some days
bring brutal cold while others offer stifling heat. There is
beauty, there is tragedy, and there is exquisite fulfillment
along with bitter disappointment.
On the surface, life is filled with much adventure,
activity, change, confusion, excitement, joy and
frustration. Underlying it all you'll find abiding peace and
goodness that can never be denied.
You have the unique, unmatched good fortune of being you,
right here and right now. Take a brief moment to realize and
remember who you truly are.
Then look out at the vast expanse of possibilities that
surrounds you. And dive lovingly into it in your own special
way.
