The power of responsibility
+++++++++++++++++++
Responsibility is not a burden. It is the key that enables
you to exercise control over your own destiny.
Only by taking responsibility are you able to move life in
the direction of your own dreams and visions. Responsibility
fully engages the best of who you are.
Responsibility can be difficult, time-consuming, unfair,
inconvenient and uncomfortable. Yet it also brings you to a
level of empowerment that cannot be reached in any other
way.
At the heart of true achievement is responsibility. An
essential element of meaningful fulfillment is
responsibility.
Every great opportunity is an opportunity to take
responsibility. Whatever the situation, the most successful
way forward is to act with responsibility.
No matter what has happened, or who is to blame, or how it
all came to be, choose to take full responsibility for your
life. For that is the first step in making it great.

Character Counts
Ogden High School’s wrestling team showed up for a wrestling meet at
Humboldt High School. The home coach greeted them with the news that one of
his wrestlers had Down’s syndrome. "He has no skill but loves to compete.
You can pin him in seconds. He knows he'll lose; he just wants to roll
around on the mat for a little bit. Would anyone on your team be willing to
wrestle with him?"
First, there was silence. Then a lone voice on the Ogden team replied, "I'll
do it," and wrestler Lane Brueland stepped forward to grapple with the boy
named Brent.
The gesture alone was commendable, but what Brueland did next was exemplary.
Instead of doing what the Humboldt coach requested, Brueland wrestled with
the boy for the full six minutes. Not only that, he let the youngster score
enough points to win the match.
When Brent’s hand was raised and he looked up in wonder and said, "I won?" -
there wasn't a dry eye in the gym. Both boys got a standing ovation.

THE SCULPTOR'S ATTITUDE
I woke up early today, excited over all I get to do before the clock
Strikes midnight.
I have responsibilities to fulfill today. I am important. My job is to
Choose what kind of day I am going to have.
Today I can complain because the weather is rainy or...
I can be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free.
Today I can feel sad that I don't have more money or...
I can be glad that my finances encourage me to plan my purchases wisely
And guide me away from waste.
Today I can grumble about my health or...
I can rejoice that I am alive.
Today I can lament over all that my parents didn't give me when I was
Growing up or...
I can feel grateful that they allowed me to be born.
Today I can cry because roses have thorns or...
I can celebrate that thorns have roses.
Today I can mourn my lack of friends or ...
I can excitedly embark upon a quest to discover new relationships.
Today I can whine because I have to go to work or...
I can shout for joy because I have a job to do.
Today I can complain because I have to go to school or...
Eagerly open my mind and fill it with rich new tidbits of knowledge.
Today I can murmur dejectedly because I have to do housework or...
I can feel honored because the Lord has provided shelter for my mind,
Body and soul.
Today stretches ahead of me, waiting to be shaped.
And here I am, the sculptor who gets to do the shaping.
What today will be like is up to me.
I get to choose what kind of day I will have!

ROAD TO SUCCESS
The road to success is not straight.
There is a CURVE called FAILURE
A LOOP called CONFUSION
SPEED BUMPS called FRIENDS
RED LIGHTS called ENEMIES
CAUTION LIGHTS called FAMILY
You will have FLATS called JOBS
BUT
If you have a SPARE called DETERMINATION
An ENGINE called PERSEVERANCE
INSURANCE called FAITH
A DRIVER called JESUS
YOU WILL MAKE IT TO A PLACE CALLED SUCCESS.

Right Now!
Get the chip off your shoulder
Take that frown off your face
The clock is ticking night and day
You don't have any time to waste.
Always be kind to friends and family
And see how good it'll make you feel
it's just as easy being nice as not to be
So get your personality on an even keel.
People will greet you with a warm smile
Your popularity will rate a number ten
What happens now is entirely up to you
Becoming a better you it's time to begin!

What do you expect?
+++++++++++++++++++
You don't have to look very far to find a reason to feel
sorry for yourself. But why would you want to waste even a
few moments of your precious life on self pity?
It's easy to come up with perfectly reasonable excuses for
lowering your expectations and hiding away from life. But
then all you're left with are worthless excuses.
There are certain circumstances under which some people see
themselves as victims. Yet under those exact same
circumstances other people find and make the most of truly
grand opportunities.
When you expect life to be cruel and harsh, it will live up
to your expectations. When, on the other hand, you consider
yourself to be extremely fortunate, you will become even
more so.
There is great value in every moment. Positive possibilities
are generated by every turn and twist of fate.
No matter what may happen or fail to happen, life is what
you choose to make it. Choose again and again, in every
situation, to make it great.

TONE OF VOICE
It's not so much what you say,
As the manner in which you say it;
It's not so much the language you use,
As the tone in which you convey it.
"Come here," I sharply said,
And the child cowered and wept.
"Come here," I said; he looked and smiled,
And straight to my lap he crept.
Words may be mild and fair,
But the tone may pierce like dart;
Words may be soft as the summer air,
But the tone may break my heart.
For words come from the mind
Grow by study and art,
But tone leaps from the inner self,
Revealing the state of heart.
Whether you know it or not,
Whether you're mean or care,
Gentleness, kindness, love and hate,
Envy, anger are there.
Then, would you quarrels avoid
And peace and love rejoice ?
Keep anger not only out of your words,
Keep it out of your voice.

The Next Step
To think too long about doing a thing often becomes its undoing.
-Eva Young
Procrastination is often a response to feeling overwhelmed. We think about
finishing what we need to accomplish and all the work it will take to get
from start to finish.
If I’m facing a huge task, I want to take a breath and prepare myself before
I dive in. In the meantime, while I’m preparing myself, I've got something
else to do that’s quicker and more interesting. A few weeks later, I’m
facing the same huge task with the same feelings and some added guilt and
reinforcement of how horrible the task must be since it’s making me feel so
crappy. So I take a deep breath and remember something else I want to do…
(repeat)
Or, instead of thinking about finishing the task, I think about starting it
or doing the next step. The next step is a smaller, measurable commitment I
can make more easily knowing that I can make a choice to move on to
something else when I’m finished with the next step. It keeps the project
moving forward and keeps me in the moment.
When procrastination has a grip on me and I’m tempted to avoid a large
project, I have found that asking myself, “What is the next step?” is much
more productive than trying to plan out the whole job. It allows me to focus
on the moment and to work inspired.
The idea of living in the moment is not just for meditation and weekend
leisure activities. It benefits every area of our lives, including work.

Forgiving Mistakes of the Past
A man should never be ashamed to own up he has been in the wrong, which is
but saying... That he is wiser today than he was yesterday.
-Alexander Pope
The past is gone. But, it is a piece of the experience that defines who we
are today.
All fear, stress and regret come from the past. We can be free of them
entirely by choosing to live in this moment.
In this moment, life is simpler, mistakes are less devastating, work is more
productive and relationships are more rewarding and intimate. Our talents
and passions thrive. The world looks different.
As tempting as it may be to fantasize the what ifs of the past, those
experiences are only helpful to us as we live in this moment.
The mistakes of the past are a source of wisdom and insight as long as we
choose to bring those things to the present and leave regret behind.
Mistakes are a part of the process that every one of us has to experience to
learn and grow.
To forgive the past is to invite hope, peace, innocence and freedom without
limitations.

A job well done

Nothing can compare to the satisfaction you receive from a
job well done. When the problems have been solved and the
difficult tasks have been completed, you know without a
doubt that you've created something of real value.
Any difficult challenge can seem a bit overwhelming when you
first encounter it. Yet as you begin to work on it, you
transform it from overwhelming to fulfilling.
The confidence you gain from a job well done cannot be
obtained in any other way. And that confidence will still be
with you long after the work has been completed.
The real value of accomplishment is not in the having. It is
in the doing.
Success is a state of mind, and the most reliable way to
reach that state of mind is by working through a meaningful
challenge. What a blessing it is that there is always work
to be done.
Step willingly forward and take on those tasks that you know
will make a difference. And enjoy the continuing benefits
that flow from a job well done.

Thru My Eyes
The beauty of GOD's wonders, so many sights to behold.
The birth of a baby, that you have longed to hold.
A bride all adorned in white satin and lace,
Led by a father, who giveth her away.
A soft-petaled rose, so delicate and sweet.
The sight of a rainbow, in purples and pink.
A glow of the horizon, when sunsets at ends day.
Or the freshness of the morning awaking from Heavens gate.
The mellowing gold colors, as fall begins to peak.
As the mixed shades of crimson, sways softly on the trees.
The grace of an eagle, soaring in flight.
Snow covered mountains, touching the skies.
A warmth of friendship, of young to old.
The love in a family, together as one.
May each one of us know, the beauties in life,
To touch our hearts, or see them thru our eyes.

Like the little old lady who returned your wallet
Yesterday. Like the taxi driver who told you that
Your eyes light up the world. Like the small child
Who showed you the wonder in simple things. Like
The stranger that just helped you along when you
Had lost your way. Like the friend who touched
Your heart, when you didn't think you had one.
ANGELS come in all sizes and shapes, all ages
And skin types. Some with freckles, dimples,
And wrinkles. Disguised as friends, enemies,
Teachers, students, lovers and fools.
They leave no forwarding addresses, they ask nothing in
Return. They are hard to find with your eyes closed, but
When you choose to see, they are everywhere you look.
So, OPEN YOUR EYES and count all YOUR ANGELS -
For you are truly blessed!!

Negative to positive
+++++++++++++++++++
Positive energy is very nearly the same as negative energy.
It's just focused in a different direction.
The best way to deal with negative energy is not to fight
against it. Instead, make positive use of that energy by
redirecting it.
For example, at the heart of frustration, when you strip
away the circumstances, it feels a lot like enthusiasm. And
in fact, by simply focusing the energy of your frustration
in a different direction, you can transform it into
enthusiasm.
For everything that you feel the urge to oppose, there's
something else that you can support. Each instance of
negative energy has a positive counterpart.
When you're feeling negative, you're actually quite close to
being positive. Just make the choice to focus the intensity
of your feelings on what you value and appreciate, rather
than on what you don't want.
No matter what is coming your way, you can point the
considerable power of your life in a positive direction.
Remember what you're in favor of, and put your life into it.

IT's In The Valleys That You Grow
Sometimes life seems hard to bear,
Full of sorrow, trouble and woe
It's then I have to remember
That it's in the valleys I grow.
If I always stayed on the mountain top
And never experienced pain,
I would never appreciate God's love
And would be living in vain.
I have so much to learn
And my growth is very slow,
Sometimes I need the mountain tops,
But it's in the valleys I grow.
I do not always understand
Why things happen as they do,
But I am very sure of one thing.
My Lord will see me through.
My little valleys are nothing
When I picture Christ on the cross
He went through the valley of death;
His victory was Satan's loss.
Forgive me Lord, for complaining
When I'm feeling so very low.
Just give me a gentle reminder
That it's in the valleys I grow.
Continue to strengthen me, Lord
And use my life each day
To share your love with others
And help them find their way.
Thank you for valleys, Lord
For this one thing I know
The mountain tops are glorious
But it's in the valleys I grow!
Full of sorrow, trouble and woe
It's then I have to remember
That it's in the valleys I grow.
If I always stayed on the mountain top

Choose your commitments

You won't be able to commit to anything if you try to commit
to everything. Be willing to say no to the things that are
not really important, and you'll be able to say yes, in a
big way, to those things that are most meaningful.
A few, carefully selected, quality commitments will bring
much more value to your life than a whole calendar full of
shallow, relatively meaningless ones. The depth and meaning
of life's experiences matter more than the sheer volume of
them.
Just because you're busy doesn't necessarily mean you're
making real progress. Take some time to consider just where
all that activity is taking you.
Life is filled with all sorts of wonderful opportunities for
real fulfillment. There's no need to grab at everything that
happens to come by.
Every single day is precious and unique. Spend each day
moving life forward in a personally meaningful way.
Choose your commitments with care and grace, with love and
purpose. Then you can truly know the joy of giving yourself
fully to them.

to those desires.
The best way to be is to be who you are. True success is
living with authenticity, being joyfully honest about your
own life.
Let your life unfold more fully with each moment. The
passing of time is always your friend because it brings you
ever closer to who you truly are.
There is magic in the most ordinary of moments. For you are
life witnessing itself from a fresh perspective, filled with
more possibilities than ever before.
Pay heed to the desires that tug at your soul. And discover
new miracles to which you can give birth.

Desires that tug at your soul

Do not be ashamed of the things you desire. Be diligent in
exploring the depths of those desires.

Most of us are involved with the tasks that must
Be accomplished by tomorrow, that we miss the
Beauty of today. Loveliness all around us gets taken
For granted. We rarely look up from our daily tasks to
Appreciate the treasures of our environment.
Take a moment from your hectic schedule, and smell
The flowers. Watch the graceful soaring of a kite or even
Marvel at the stars.
You'll be surprised by the freedom you feel and the
Peace that it brings to your soul.

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.
Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important
Than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances,
Than failures, than successes, than what other people think
Or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness,
Or skill. It will make or break a company... A church... A home. The
Remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the
Attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change the past.
We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way.
We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is
Play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude....I am
Convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I
React to it. And so it is with you... We are in charge of our attitudes.

Frame of life
+++++++++++++++++++
The way you frame your life has a major impact on the way
Your life unfolds. The way you see yourself and your place
In the world determines who you truly are.
The unstated assumptions upon which you rely are constantly
Exerting their influence. Your deepest, most sincere
Feelings about life have a way of coloring every
Circumstance.
The events in your world do not just happen without reason
Or source. They are driven by your most fundamental
Expectations of how you will find life to be.
In each small moment and in every large undertaking, your
Frame of life sets the stage. So choose to frame your life
With love, with respect, with beauty, grace and a focus on
The most magnificent possibilities.
The way you see the world determines the kind of world you
See. So decide to assume, expect and look for the very best
You can imagine.
Live with a positive, enthusiastic and thankful frame of
Life. And within that empowering frame, you will create a
Masterpiece that grows more beautiful with each moment.
